Detroit Auto Show 2017

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is among the largest and most vibrant auto shows in the world. With several debuts and reveals planned for the thirtieth iteration of the show, which runs from the 8th to the 22nd of January, petrolheads are set to be treated to the newest and most exciting models on offer. What follows, is a list of vehicles that are bound to have audiences in awe.

BMW 5-Series

The German standard in luxury and affordability, the 5-Series is a crowd pleaser and a volume seller for the brand. Taking on the Mercedes-Benz E-Class and Audi A6, the all-new 5-Series is up to 62 kg lighter than its predecessor and is made of a combination of aluminum, magnesium, and high-strength steel. The seventh-generation model also features the latest iDrive infotainment system, a new 8.8-inch instrument cluster displayand optional gesture control.

GMC Terrain

A relatively new entrant into the American marque’s line-up, the GMC Terrain slots below the Acadia as the smallest model to don the brand’s insignia. Bidding farewell to the dated first-generation model, the all-new Terrain points in the direction of a turbocharged power plant a floating roofline. Sharing its platform with the Chevrolet Cruze, the second-generation model is expected to be lighter and a little smaller, too.

Mercedes Benz GLA

Based on the A-Class hatchback, the GLA offers buyers a spike in spaciousness and practicality alike. Teased prior to its global reveal, the facelifted GLA is seen sporting a revised bumper with redesigned head-and-tail lamps expected to feature as well. A tasteful use of chrome complements the protruding creases to lend the GLA an intimidating stance.

Toyota Camry

A legend in the Japanese brand’s line-up, the Toyota Camry is a regional favorite and has been around since 1982. Whilst details remain scarce, the all-new Camry is seen making its sporting pretentions clear with artificial vents adjoining the tail lamps, a boot spoiler, and a broad shoulder line. Aesthetically, it is safe to say it isn’t lacking the much-needed flamboyance to take on rivals such as the Mazda6.
