2013 Dubai Motor Show: Chevrolet New Models

Chevrolet showcases four regional premieres at the 2013 Dubai International Motor Show. New models to be displayed for the first time in the region include the all-new 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe full-size SUV, the brand’s most popular nameplate; the all-new 2014 Corvette Stingray; the new global small SUV Trax and 2014 Silverado High Country. 

Beyond getting a first look at the four new Chevrolets, Chevrolet displays its newest product lineup in the 1,224 square meters display. Offering the one of the most comprehensive and newest product lineup across all brands in the Middle East, over 80 percent of vehicles displayed at the Chevrolet booth will be all-new or majorly refreshed.

Chevrolet Stand visitors will also have their choice of interactive fun – from taking photos with Manchester United players to driving the new Corvette in the simulator. In the Manchester United Fan Zone, they can have their photo taken sitting in one of Manchester United’s Old Trafford dugout seats. Behind the stage, visitors can enjoy drawing their own Camaro on the Camaro Graffitti wall as well as competing in the Corvette Racing Simulator.

All-new 2015 Tahoe is powerful, quieter, more refined and safer

The all-new 2015 Tahoe has been designed for today’s active families needing space for everyone and everything. Tahoe continues to offer legendary roominess, unmatched functionality, connectivity and first-class safety features. All-new styling of the new Tahoe contributes to a quieter ride. A more-efficient, direct-injected EcoTec3 5.3L V-8 powertrain coupled with improved aerodynamics help offer enhanced fuel consumption.

New functionality and technology features for 2015 include:

• All-new aluminum EcoTec3 5.3L V-8 engine features state-of-the-art technologies, including direct injection, cylinder deactivation, continuously variable valve timing and an advanced combustion system

• Fold-flat second- and third-row seats that enhance cargo convenience – including an available power-folding feature

• Approximately two inches greater legroom for second-row passengers, along with easier entry/exit

• Available eight-inch color touch screen radio with next-generation MyLink connectivity

• Up to six USB ports and six power outlets – including a 110-volt three-prong outlet –  to support electronic devices of all kinds (up to 12 charging locations)

• Available rear-seat entertainment system with Blu-ray DVD player

• Conversation mirror in the overhead console that provides a panoramic view of the rear seats

• Keyless entry and push-button start.

The new Tahoe will be built at GM’s Arlington, Texas assembly plant. It will arrive in dealerships in the Middle East in the 2nd half of 2014. 

Chevrolet redefines modern performance with debut of the all-new Corvette Stingray

The 2014 Corvette Stingray has been making headlines since its global premiere at the beginning of the year. Only a Corvette with the perfect balance of technology, design and performance can wear the iconic Stingray designation.

The 2014 Corvette Stingray is the most powerful standard model ever, with SAE-certified 455 horsepower and 624 Nm - and 460 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 630 Nm at 4,600 rpm, with the available performance exhaust system. It is also the most capable standard model ever, with Z51-equipped models able to accelerate from 0 to 97 km/h (0 to 60 mph) in 3.8 seconds and achieve 1.03g in cornering grip. 

The new Corvette Stingray backs its performance capability with the greatest efficiency of any sports car on the market, delivering an EPA-estimated 13.8 L/100km in the city, and 8.1 L/100km on the highway with the all-new seven-speed manual transmissions. No other car offers more than 455 horsepower and greater than 8.1 L/100km highway.

The all-new Corvette Stingray shares only two parts with the previous generation Corvette. It incorporates an all-new frame structure and chassis, a new powertrain and supporting technologies, as well as completely new exterior and interior designs. Highlights include:

•An interior that includes real carbon fiber, aluminum and hand-wrapped leather materials, two new seat choices – each featuring a lightweight magnesium frame for exceptional support – and dual eight-inch configurable driver/infotainment screens 

•Advanced driver technologies, including a five-position Drive Mode Selector that tailors 12 vehicle attributes to fit the driver’s environment and a new seven-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching that anticipates gear selections and matches engine speed for perfect shifts every time 

•An all-new 6.2L LT1 V-8 engine combines advanced technologies, including direct injection, Active Fuel Management, continuously variable valve timing and an advanced combustion system that delivers more power while using less fuel

•Lightweight materials, including a carbon fiber hood and removable roof panel; composite fenders, doors and rear quarter panels; carbon-nano composite underbody panels and a new aluminum frame help shift weight rearward for an optimal 50/50 weight balance that supports a world-class power-to-weight ratio

•A sculptured exterior features advanced high-intensity discharge and light-emitting diode lighting and racing-proven aerodynamics that balance low drag for efficiency and performance elements for improved stability and track capability 

•Track-capable Z51 Performance Package including: an electronic limited-slip differential, dry-sump oiling system, integral brake, differential and transmission cooling, as well as a unique aero package that further improves high-speed stability .

The 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe goes on sale in the Middle East market early next year. 

All-new 2014 Trax exhibits SUV toughness and capability in a small package

In 2014, Chevrolet's global SUV family - Captiva, Traverse, Trailbalzer, Tahoe and Suburban – is joined by a new member of its family, the Trax small SUV. 

Like other Chevrolet SUVs, Trax continues Chevrolet's SUV mission - carry people plus their gear – so storage amenities are plentiful. The loading space can be extended to accommodate a maximum of 1370-litre, with further space available under the cargo floor.

With the Chevrolet MyLink connected radio, a standard feature on upper trim of the Trax, drivers will have a system at their fingertips that is easy to use and allows them to access media including specialist apps from compatible portable devices such as Siri Eye Free and TuneIn radio. 

A 1.8-liter gasoline engine will be offered with either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission, which cranks out 140 horsepower and 175 Nm of torque. 

An AWD system is also available on LT and LTZ trims equipped with the 6-speed automatic transmission. On-demand AWD system automatically adapts to the prevalent road conditions and significantly improves traction on slippery or graveled roads. It delivers power to the front wheels during normal driving on dry road surfaces. Should the front wheels slip due to adverse traction - caused by rain, snow, or a muddy driveway - power is automatically delivered to the rear wheels as well.

The strength of its structural design make Trax one of the safest small SUVs in the market. Chevrolet Trax was awarded the top safety rating by the Korean New Car Assessment Program (KNCAP) in July 2013.

All-new 2014 Silverado High Country offers rugged luxury 

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado is engineered to be the strongest, smartest, and most capable Silverado ever. The 2014 Silverado High Country will be the top model in the Silverado lineup, 

offering a higher level of premium features and premium materials with a rich, Western-themed appearance, comfort and convenience features with segment-topping capability. It will further broaden Chevrolet’s portfolio in the premium pickup segment.

Unique content includes a chrome grille with horizontal chrome bars, body-color front and rear bumpers – including Chevrolet’s CornerStep rear bumper – and specific 20-inch chrome wheels with P285/50R20 all-season tires. Additional standard equipment includes a power sunroof, halogen projector headlamps, along with chrome body side moldings, door handles and mirrors. 

Inside, Silverado High Country features an exclusive saddle brown interior. Heated and cooled perforated premium leather front bucket seats with High Country logos on the headrests are standard, along with Chevrolet MyLink connectivity with an 8-inch color touch screen with a navigation, Bose premium audio, front and rear park assist, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Safety Alert Seat. A rear-seat entertainment system with a BluRay/DVD player, as well as a heated steering wheel, adjustable pedals and integrated trailer brake controller comes on standard.

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado High Country goes on sale in the Middle East market early next year. The High Country model is exclusive to the crew cab body with 4WD, equipped with a standard 5.3L engine or an available 6.2L engine. It is available with a short cargo box (5’8”) or a standard cargo box (6’6”). 

The manufacturer’s suggested retail prices for the 2014 Silverado High Country starts at AED 189,000 for a short box model and AED 191,000 for the standard box model.
