Audi Q2 2017 Review

The Audi Q2 is a bold fashion statement as it brings style, class and bucket-loads of modern technology into the compact crossover segment. Determined to make an impact, the hatchback on stilts stands out amongst rivals such as the Mazda CX5, Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008.

Key Features:
Engine 1.4L / 4-cylinder
Transmission 7-speed automatic
Power 150 Hp / 250 Nm
Top Speed 208 km/h
Price AED 165,000

The Q2, an exciting compact crossover, offers buyers a high-riding Audi for about half the price of a Q5 and under a third of the price of the mighty Q7. Perfect for traversing speed humps and mounting curbs around town, the elevated height offers more than just unhindered views of the outside world.

Large air intakes under the headlights and a high shoulder line are complimented by a large single-frame grille that dons the brand’s signature rings. Rugged yet classy, the Q2’s coupe-like roofline combines classic design touches with all-new elements such as unique C-pillar blades that are available in a variety of shades.

Shorter than an Audi A3 Sportback, the Q2 offers better visibility than a hatchback, while being easier to park than an SUV. Courageous with its design, the cabin is spacious and comfortable, offering seating for four adults and a whopping 405 liters of cargo space. Along with a convenient twin floor that makes loading easier, folding the second-row flat reveals 1,050 liters, enough to store your weekend “hobby gear”.

Part of Audi’s “Q” family, the compact crossover is fitted with seats that are in a higher position than the brand’s sedan and hatchback range. With plenty of intricate details such as the seams on the seats and gesture controlled ceiling lights, the cabin of the Q2 is extremely modern and well put together. The knobs are an absolute delight to touch and the switches are too, as they are down to a clicky perfection and everything is as concise as it can be.

Safety & Tech

Audi Q2 2017 Review

Technology in the 2017 Audi Q2 is mind-blowing and you inevitably end up smiling at how creative it truly is. Armed with a virtual cockpit, it lets you choose between a conventional or more modern instrument cluster display, while navigating around town is made easy with the extremely-detailed Google Earth.

Paired to a 7-inch central Multi Media Interface (MMI) screen, the Q2 benefits from what I believe is a phenomenal Bang & Olufsen sound system. Ergonomically, buttons and switches around the cabin are well placed and well designed. The only letdown in terms of quality, are the hard panels along certain sections such as the doors that dampen the overall experience.

Drive

Audi Q2 Review 2017

Nimble, feeling more like a car than a hunkering SUV, the Audi Q2 is pleasant to drive with a steering that is sharp and responds accurately to inputs. A tad sporty, the suspension set-up is on the stiffer side of the spectrum, curbing body-roll at high speeds but making road imperfections slightly unpleasant along the way.

The Audi Q2 offers driver assistance systems such as cruise control and park assist, while the 1.4-liter TFSI unit under the hood delivers plenty of punch, though still maintaining the fuel economy of a small petrol engine. 150 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque is what it distributes to the wheels in a smooth fashion, while averaging an impressive 5.4-liters / 100 kilometers. The smooth-shifting automatic transmission adds to the joy and works as a testament to the refinement of the brand’s “Q” series.

Verdict

Audi Q2 2017 Review

Innovative, eye catching and dynamic, the 2017 Audi Q2 is a stunning car that combines innovative technologies with distinctive design. An all-rounder in every sense, it’s the perfect crossover for the city, as you are always connected and have enough room for family, friends and luggage.
