The Sonata is Hyundai's longest standing model and has been in the market since 1985. It is the Korean brand’s answer to well established Japanese competitors such as the Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima, and Honda Accord.
As you can see, this 2020 eighth-generation Sonata has a completely new design based on an all-new platform, which also makes it stronger and lighter. Throughout this review you will also learn more about the new technologies and features this sedan is bringing to the market.

Clearly very different from any of its previous models with the Sonata, Hyundai is showcasing their new design language called ‘Sensuous Sportiness’. Far from being a sports car (from a performance point of view), the new Sonata does rock a sporty exterior. The new four-door coupe-esque styling gives the Sonata a younger appeal.
I agree, this design is a lot more exciting than the previous models. In my opinion, this 2020 model makes all the previous generation models look boring. The front features a new lighting system that becomes part of the chrome design. When switched off they look like a part of the chrome strip but switch on the car and it will illuminate. At the rear, you can see a horizontal LED strip connecting the taillights. Something that lately became very popular across various manufacturers.
The interior is driven by simplicity and features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that can be customized against the driver’s needs. This adds to a 10.25-inch multimedia touch screen paired to a 12 speaker Bose audio system that you can connect with Android Auto or Apple Car play. With this multimedia system, you will also be able to connect and operate 2 phones at the same time. For example, one for playing music and the other one for calls.

Following with the technology and features that the 2020 Hyundai Sonata has to offer, it comes with a sunroof, electric parking brake, wireless charging and heated and ventilated front seats. For safety, the Sonata comes with up to 9 airbags. However, for you to access those 9 airbags, you will need to buy the full option model. In addition, depending on the trim level, you will be able to get Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Collision Assist, Safe Exit Assist, Driver Attention Warning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, along with a rear and surround view monitor.
The 2020 Hyundai Sonata will hit Middle Eastern showrooms with 2 engine options. A 2.0 liter with 152 horsepower and a 2.5-liter engine with 180 horsepower. Both are paired to a six-speed automatic transmission.
