Sharjah Parking

In an announcement made over the weekend, Sharjah Municipality said that an additional 5,867 parking spaces in various parts of the emirate will be subjected to parking fees on all days including Fridays and public holidays. The move, which comes within the second phase, aims at providing more parking spaces for residents and visitors to the emirate by making them available at all time and preventing the misuse of them.

Ali Ahmed Abu Ghazin, Director of the Public Parking Department, said that the parking lots that are subjected to fees on all days of the week and public holidays are marked with blue signs in those areas. This covers all streets in Al Ghuwair area, internal streets in Al Shuwaihiyyin, Al Zahra Street in Al Musalla and Al Ghuwair areas, Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street in Al Nabba, Al Ghuwair, Al Majarah and Al Shuwaihiyyen areas, Al Marija Street in Al Mureija and Al Jubail areas, Al Wehda Street in Al Nahda and Al Majaz 2 areas, Al Corniche Street in Al Majaz 1, 2 and 3, Jamal Abdul Nasser Street in both directions in Al Majaz 2, and Al Ittihad Street in Al Nahda area.

As per Abu Ghazin, Sharjah Municipality provides motorists with over 50,000 prepaid parking spaces in the emirate, while work is underway to add another 3,500 spaces in the areas of Al Khan and Al Mamzar.  Motorists can pay parking fees in Sharjah through numerous ways, including using coins at the top-up machines, via SMS, through Prepaid Cards, or through an electronic portfolio that will be launched soon.
