Quick Review

The Optima sedan was a new addition to the Kia range in 2011, so there are not a huge amount of changes on the 2013 model. This version has been repackaged with fog lights, chrome exterior door handles, heated mirrors, automatic headlights and LED taillights. All 16 and 17 inch wheels will now have silver wheel caps instead of black. The interior trim has a new wood/metal finish and the audio system has been upgraded to the Infinity system with eight speakers.

The Optima has the same size engine and very similar liters of interior space as its closest rival the Hyundai Sonata GLS. The Kia has similar horsepower and is competitively priced. Both cars offer identical fuel economy. Also worth mentioning is Ford Mondeo and Skoda Superb as alternatives.

The Kia Optima is a solid dependable family car at the upper end of the average family budget range. The fuel economy it offers will also make it a good choice vehicle for those who need to use their automobiles for travelling distances on a fuel budget.

The vehicle is also a fairly solid and dependable ride. The handling is steady at all speeds but it is most comfortable cruising at between 2000 and 3000 rpm. It does allow some noise into the cabin. The grip is generally firm and the car is quite efficient through corners. The suspension is also quite firm and this car is not designed for bumpy roads.
