Quick Overview

The old Mercedes A-Class was a dismal effort from Stuttgart. The 2014 A-Class, however, is one of the best premium hatchbacks on the market. The 2014 A Class now looks very modern and feels like a proper Mercedes; a luxurious feel, plenty of technology to keep the occupants safe and happy and has the solid build quality that you would find in more expensive cars. Designed to be fun, exciting and practical, its main rivals include the VW Golf, Audi A3 and BMW 1 Series.

The new 2.0 Litre Turbo engine pumps out 211 HP and 350NM of torque, a relentless and powerful unit that makes driving a pleasure in the city or on highways. The gearbox has been revised to take advantage of this and is butter smooth. Handling has been praised for a Mercedes, its eager to take corners, inspires confidence and a smooth but sporty ride makes for easy and comfortable progress, spec the AMG sport package and the result is even more engaging to drive.

The interior is business as usual with Mercedes, controls are ergonomically laid out for convenience and the design and layout is much more modern and contemporary, a pleasant place to be despite its size. Occupants in the back won't be as cramped as before and offers decent practicality for everyday use. A fine car by Mercedes, it is no longer viewed as cheap and bland but youthful and fun.
