Quick Review

For 2012 there are no real changes, but Nissan Patrol still continues to be a leading model in the full SUV class.

The interior is rather luxurious and it is a very spacious car. The Patrol is quite conventional in the looks department compared to other SUVs but then again beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

The Patrol’s best asset is its engine which is smooth, quiet and very responsive. The Patrol has a powerful 4.8 liter V8 engine capable of producing 520 Nm of torque and a maximum power of 317 horsepower. The fuel economy is satisfactory at only 15.8 liters per 100 km. The Patrol has respectable levels of traction and is not glued to the road in the same way a BMW X5 is.

Nissan have positioned the Patrol as a competitor to the classic four wheel drive SUV, the Range Rover. This is perhaps a clever move as the Patrol offers a competitive price, though at the cost of performance and function. The Patrol then can only be described as an economical understudy to the Range Rover, and as such is worth purchasing if you want a premium SUV but don’t want to go as far as the Ranger Rover or other marquee’s model such as the BMW X5.

With the launch of the All-New Nissan Patrol, Nissan have introduced a mighty 5.6 liter 8 cylinder engine that produces 405 horsepower and a whopping 550 Nm of torque. Due to the mighty engine, expect fuel economy to average 17.2 liters / 100 km.
