Quick Overview

The 2014 Scirocco is very much VW's effort to step away from their safe and somewhat dull designs. The Scirocco is a very pretty car, it is neither manly nor feminine and yet either man or woman would not look out of place. Although it is very closely related to the VW Golf, it is very different in execution. The Scirocco's direct rivals include the Mini Cooper, Audi A3 and the Audi TT.

The 2014 Scirocco is approaching its end of line production, with an all new model being released at the start of 2015. That said, buyers should not be deterred to wait for the new model because the current one is very good. Its looks are extremely cool, especially in white or blue, it sits low and has a wide stance. The Scirocco resembles a little racing touring car and is made for fun drives, it never feels dull. The Scirocco sits on the same chassis as the Golf which has been praised for its excellent ride and handling. However the Scirocco feels more agile and nimble, its eager looks translates into an eager drive. Available with a measly 1.4 turbo or more adequate 2.0 Litre Turbo, the Scirocco will make quick progress and will deliver hot hatch levels of fun. The Scirocco R however brings its performance into proper sports car territory.

Inside the Scirocco, it is all standard VW design, simple and logical and a bit bland. However it is solidly built and being German, everything is high quality. Be warned this little car is more suited for two people rather than four as the rear space is less than adequate. Standard equipment is fair with the standard Scirocco equipped with 17 inch Alloys, Climatronic Air Conditioning, 4 airbags, USB and AUX connectivity.
