Quick Review

For 2013, the Kia Koup's EX trim gets a tilt and telescopic steering wheel. The coupe is no longer available with a manual transmission.

The Kia Koup is a likeable little member of the affordable car segment. It's practical, versatile and has excellent safety features as well as clean-cut good looks, and packs in lots of technological goodies as standard for a budget-friendly price. A fun alternatively is the Mazda3; it has great performance and handling, although the dearth of cargo space and snug interior makes it a bit less practical than the Koup. The Mazda3 also has a more conventional exterior design compared to the Koup. The Honda Jazz has smart good looks like the Kia and offers a similarly generous amount of space for passengers and cargo, making it a good choice for a family runabout. The Jazz's interior is plush and more versatile than the Koup's.

The Kia Koup is a quality small car for the budget shopper who wants practicality and safety. With its generous cargo space, it would make a great compact family car. Well worth investigating for the practical buyer, other alternatives may be examined if performance muscle and style are high up on the priority list.
