Quick Review

The 2012 Toyota Avensis has undergone minor cosmetic changes from the previous model. Revised rear lights, bumpers and headlights are about the only things that have been changed. Having said that, the car still looks as dull as the previous model.

The Avensis comes equipped with a more fuel efficient and quieter 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine that is capable of producing 125 horsepower and 300 Nm. From standstill, the Avensis will reach 100 Km/h in a reasonable 10.6 seconds. The Avensis is perfect for highway cruising, however put it through some corners and it wont be long before you notice the poor handling.

The interior of the Avensis is a lot roomier than it looks and is well insulated eliminating road and engine noise. An improved dashboard design made with better materials and wood inlays, along with a touch screen infotainment system are highlights of the interior. Safety features are not lacking either with driver, passenger, side, curtain and knee airbags being present.

In terms of the exterior, the new Avensis is 15 mm longer than the previous model allowing a tad bit more room for rear passengers. New day-time running lights also add a bit of glamor to the otherwise boring front end.

All in all, the Avensis is a reliable, safe and practical car that will transport your family from point A to point B without any issue. If however, you want a car that will offer a better driving experience, check out the Honda City, Mazda 3 and Mitsubishi Lancer.
