Which cars did you shortlist before deciding to buy this car?

1. Audi A5 Coupe

2. Dodge Durango

3. Cadillac SRX

4. Audi Q5

What made you pick the Grand Cherokee over the above competitors?

I wanted to go for a good off-roader that is also family friendly. The Grand Cherokee is a powerful car which is quite luxurious and comfortable from the inside.

Your opinion on Cherokee's looks:

It's a man's car! You won't find many ladies driving it. The look is very masculine in my opinion. I didn't want to feel like a soccer mom with an off-roader.

Your take on interior:

I bought the full option model for 178,000 AED and I got many features that other more expensive off-roaders had. I got leather seats, navigation, rear camera, sun roof, jacks for iPod, iPad, iPhone and Blackberry. I even got a DVD screen. These are options that Ford Explorer won't even dream about for this price!

Your assessment of driving performance:

It has a great suspension and multiple off-road options, similar to Land Rover LR4 Pursuit, but cheaper!

In terms of fuel economy, I pay 175 AED for a full tank and it gives me approximately 500 km.

How practical is the Jeep Grand Cherokee?

It is extremely practical. I'm a family man and this car has everything in terms of comfort and practicality that I need.

What areas need improvement?

The DVD screen is on the roof of my car and it comes down so rear passengers can watch the video. However when I bring it down, it blocks my rear view mirror. This is an issue that needs to be fixed. Cadillac SRX does not have this problem, they have screens on the back of our front seats so it doesn't block the rear view mirror.
