Dubai's transport got big plans for Hessa Street! They're investing a whopping Dh689 million to give it a major facelift. Why? To ease up the traffic congestion, make commutes quicker, and up the safety factor on this super busy road.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) just snagged the contract to oversee this whole transformation. It's all part of Dubai's grand plan to supercharge its road network.

So, here's the lowdown: they're turning Hessa Street into a four-lane wonder in each direction, adding an extra 4.5km of road. Plus, they're sprucing up four junctions to keep things flowing smoothly.

This revamp is set to double the road's capacity, which is a game-changer for about 640,000 residents in the area.

And that's not all! They're rolling out a 13.5km cycling path and building two new bridges for cyclists and pedestrians to cross Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Street.

This whole shebang is thanks to the vision of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, who've put their weight behind this project.

Mattar Al Tayer, the director general at RTA, has his eyes on the prize, calling this Hessa Street upgrade one of the biggest things happening in Dubai's road network.

"The project serves a number of residential and development areas, such as the Al Sufouh Second area, the Al Barsha residential area and the Jumeirah Village Circle," he added.

Dubai's on a mission to rev up its road network to keep up with the bustling population, which shot past 3.5 million last April. And now? The population counter is ticking over 3.62 million.

Just a few months back, they greenlit the Dh374 million Garn Al Sabkha Street Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Road Intersection Improvement Project. It's packing in four bridges that can handle a whopping 17,600 vehicles an hour. That's some serious traffic mojo!

And remember Phase 4 of the Al Shindagha Corridor Improvement Project? It's a mammoth Dh5.3 billion effort designed to handle the urban surge along the corridor. They've inked an Dh800 million contract for a 4.8km stretch along Sheikh Rashid Road.

Dubai's also putting safety first with seven spanking new footbridges. The goal? To make Dubai the gold standard in traffic safety.

So, there you have it – Dubai's streets are in for a major glow-up!
